The grounds include eight-plus acres of garden and green space and include the Shelton Barn Events Center, the Shelton Carriage House Gift Shop, the HART Performing Arts Center, and Haywood’s Historic Farmers Market. A garden landscaping concept was developed in 2012 and included the following featured garden areas:

Originally built in 1875 for the Shelton Family the two-story, Charleston-style farmhouse provides a glimpse into North Carolina history, heritage and crafts.
Our Pennsylvania-Dutch-style barn, part of the Shelton’s working dairy farm in the early to mid-20th century, contains a collection of antique farm tools as well as a century-old milking room.
The scenic grounds at The Shelton House includes various feature gardens. Stroll through the lush green space, explore the gardens or reserve the space for your private event.
