(Waynesville, NC – February 9. 2018) – The Shelton House will launch a new series of events for the 2018 season on Saturday, March 31, 2018. The Kid’s Crafter Events are aimed at developing the crafting spirit at an early age and giving parents a much needed break on Saturday mornings. Four dates have been scheduled throughout the Spring and Summer that will allow parents to drop off their children, ages 5-10, at 9:00 am at the Shelton House Barn. Children will be led by certified teachers, volunteers and staff in a craft making event. All supplies will be provided by Shelton House and the craft will go home with the children. Refreshments will also be provided for the children during the one-hour program. Parents are welcome to stay and watch or take some time to visit the Historic Haywood Farmer’s Market, located in the HART Theater parking lot, on the Shelton House grounds.
The first event on March 31st
will also include an Easter Egg Hunt on the Shelton House grounds and last from 9-11 am. “The children can make a cute craft and then collect as many eggs as possible. The eggs will be filled with candy and some of them will have a ‘special surprise’ inside,” says Andrea Long, Managing Director of Shelton House. Sarah Jane League, Shelton House Board Chair said, “We’re hoping that new people that have never been to the Shelton House will come and learn about the Shelton House. We’re more than just that beautiful white house on the corner.” In addition to the Easter Egg Hunt and Easter Craft, there is a Springtime Craft event scheduled for April 14th
and a Mother’s Day Craft event scheduled for May 12th
. July 14th and August 11th will round out the season with Summertime and Harvest Crafts. A $5 donation is requested for these events. Community members are encouraged to visit the website: www.sheltonhouse.org
